With labels like RAM Records celebrating 25 years in the game this year and the likes of Playaz and Viper Recordings releasing a stupid amount of gold this summer, D&B is certainly having it’s moment in 2017.
An absolute delight of established artist’s and upcoming producers are bringing forth that 178 BPM sound and we couldn’t be happier. Whether it’s gritty jungle vibes or powerful liquid anthems, drum and bass certainly has a place on the dance floors up and down the country. One artist who is securing that place on the dance floors is Droptek.
This month Droptek has brought forth his monumental EP Fragments. Bringing together four diverse tracks to create a characteristic soundscape, Fragments takes us on a chaotic journey. Kick-starting with atmospheric track Mimic, Droptek blends dark, yet intricately crafted synth lines with familiar drum and bass breaks. Tapping into his electro influences, the artist harnesses a forward-thinking approach to hefty second track Inject, whilst title track Fragments brings an experimental flavour to the mix. Finally, glitchy half-time track Ekstasis showcases a boundary-pushing take on drum and bass to round-up this impressive EP.
Head honcho of the electrifying label Monstercat, this Bristollian DJ has well and truly stomped his iconic sound into every beat of this EP.
