London based producer and DJ, GODDARD (Andrew Goddard), has had his latest EP signed to the ‘Cheap Thrills’ record label. The DJ, who has had several previous releases on 3000 Bass, 3000 Deep, Kiss Records and Spira Music, is accustomed to making a rich blend of UK bass and tech house.
The release date for GODDARD’s EP is set for August 24th, coming out as a Beatport exclusive. We caught up with Andrew to see what track he thinks can save any dance floor and how it feels to get support from the likes of Hervé.
Hi Andrew, if you could summarise your sound in three words, what would they be?
Diverse, Gritty, Energising
Who were your early influences with regards to production?
Chris Lorenzo, Hannah Wants, Marc Spence, Hot Since 82, Taiki Nulight & My Nu Leng
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
The past ten months has been great for me within the UK Bass scene, since moving away from home and into the cities of London & Manchester Ive managed to get 7 tracks with 3000 Bass/Deep which have equated 50k listens between the seven tracks and its great to see so many positive comments on SoundCloud. It is a massive booster and gives you the push to keep putting time into the studio and hopefully I’ll see it pay off one day where I can do this full time.
What’s one track that you’re really feeling at the moment?
Its got to be Chris Lorenzo – Sleep Talking (Feat. Alex Mills). The guy is killing it! If you haven’t already, check out his FABRICLIVE mix, loads of great tracks in there which are tearing up the clubs up at the moment.
What’s one track that can save any dance floor?
For me personally I like to mix it up, I don’t like playing heavy tune again and again because all it does is start to loose its novelty. For me, Green Velvet – Bigger Than Prince (Hot Since 82 Remix) can save any dance floor, the bass in that track in a club is just unbelievable.
What’s your favourite venue in the UK and why?
Fabric, London. That was the first place I checked out when I went to live there and it didn’t disappoint. The £5 mini bottles of beer did slightly, but the vibe in there is just electric.
What’s your favourite festival to attend and why?
My favourite festival that I have ever been to was Glade which unfortunately isn’t running at the moment. However, their have been talks that they’re looking to come back. It had similar vibes to Boomtown, but for me Glade (because its much smaller) had a real family vibe to it.
What does having your new EP signed to ‘Cheap Thrills’ mean to you?
Signing my first EP with Cheap Thrills is a massive achievement for me, I was blown away when I heard from Josh (Hervé) the owner of Cheap Thrills what he made of what I had sent him. To have a producer as skilled and experienced as him, speak so highly of your work, is amazing. I’m looking forward to seeing what response the tracks get on the dance floor!
