I dare anyone to say that they don’t automatically move when this tune comes on.
Arguably one of the most influential and well know UK Funky tracks to date, you might recognise ‘Chantes’ from the likes of ‘Are We Gonna Bang Doe?’ by Funky Dee, a track which swallowed up Ayia Napa and Malia in 2008.
The genre, which was formed in the UK and originally popular around the early 2000’s, takes influences from Garage, 2 Step and Afrobeat. Much more recently the UK Funky sound can be heard creeping back into sets up and down the country with artists such as Mele, Redlight, DJ Barely Legal and Lil Silva slipping the genre into their mixes.
